Nálevka in České Budějovice Jan Nálevka developed five conceptual projects for the House of Arts in České Budějovice. In his video, he calculates mathematical exercises whose solution is always zero, com-presses all seconds of a day to make their alternation illegible, and endlessly rules the edges of school exercise books, thus doing lots of work with an utterly uninteresting result. He, however, has an appropriate explanation for all these operations, publishing them in the texts accompanying the works and explaining that he follows particular laws applied on his activity. Nálevka’s approach to the creative process is self-ironical into large extent and moreover bespeaks of his sense of the absurd.
