The 2008 Personality of the Year / Klenova Gallery
For the seventh time, the Klatovy / Klenová Gallery announced the award “Personality of the Year” for the most outstanding feat on the Czech artistic scene in the given year. The previous laureates were Jiří Sopko (2002), art group Kamera Skura (2003), František Skála (2004), Jan Merta (2005), Pavel Brázda (2007) and Jiří Kovanda (2008). The winners are selected by critics, art historians and museum and gallery curators (while 52 responded out of 100 those addressed). The jury votes by giving points on the scale from one to five. The award focuses on living artists active in the Czech Republic. This time, the title ”The 2008 Personality of the Year” was awarded to the art group Rafani for its exhibition held in the Václav Špála Gallery in Prague. The second place was occupied by Adriena Šimotová and the third place by Ján Mančuška.
