New Museum in Basra, Iraq Transforming Dictator’s Palace into a Museum The British army offered its powers in establishing a museum in the Iraqi city of Basra. The museum should be located in the local Lakeside palace, built by Saddam Hussein during the early 1990s. The main exhibition items should be antiques and rare manuscripts originating from the Baghdad National Museum which holds enormous collections of historical art along with objects originating from the most recent past.
