Picasso in National Gallery in Prague
Prints by Picasso on the Loan to the National Gallery in Prague The National Gallery in Prague presents a small set of lithographs and dry-points by Pablo Picasso, originating from the period between 1904 and 1905 and loaned by the Paris-based Ambroise Vollard Gallery. The prints revolve around social subjects, reflecting the air of the time of their origination and mainly featuring the atmosphere of Parisian and Barcelona circuses that strongly inspired Picasso at that time. In 1906, the renowned Parisian gallery-owner, Ambroise Vollard, purchased a large series of Picasso’s works and also published fourteen prints under the title Les Santim-banques (Magicians), which is today held by the Collection of Prints and Drawings of the National Gallery in Prague.
