1ST INTERNATIONAL STREET ART FESTIVAL IN PRAGUE
Prague will host the first festival devoted to the most topical phenomenon in the field of arts – street art and graffiti – entitled NAMES. More than 40 artists from the Czech lands and abroad will present themselves in the streets of Prague and on its walls. Industrial zones and various façades will thus be transformed into an exceptional city gallery. The greatest legends of graffiti will meet in the Trafačka Gallery in the Prague neighborhood of Vysočany to present their achievements. They will at the same time screen short film sketches and graffiti full-length films. The festival represents an unprecedented occasion to meet the writers who “painted over” the entire world. It will also be accompanied by many other events (like City Walks with Pasta – guided tours around the city; competitions for the Best Piece; Graffiti Jam; concerts; Viewers’ Awards, and much more). The festival will culminate with the competition for the bet work and will continue with the exhibition held in the Trafačka Gallery to mid-October. The event will be accompanied by a printed catalogue. The NAMES festival will be held from 26 August to 6 September 2008 in the Trafačka Gallery and its close vicinity. It will continue by the exhibition of selected works in the same gallery from 8 September to 13 October 2008.
