The first year of the fine arts criticism award will be announced on May 24th, 2013 in Prague's MeetFactory
The announcement of Věra Jirousová Award will take place in the industrial space in Prague's Smíchov from 6 p.m. An expert jury consisting of Dušan Záhoranský, Marek Pokorný, Sláva Sobotovičová, Ladislav Kesner Jr. and Vilma Anýžová chose from among many contemporary active fine arts critics. Laureates were chosen in two categories. In the Young Critic category the jury focused mainly on the ability of young authors to choose contemporary and interesting topics and place them in a broader context. Also linguistic expression and relevant, professional work with information and facts played a significant role. With established critics the jury aimed to find a strong character that has been continually and in the long term forming an interesting theoretical-historical framework and creating their own distinctive course.
Laureates of the Věra Jirousová Award will gain a one week scholarship in one of the Czech centers abroad, the winner of the Established Critic category will also receive a challenge award designed by the artist and member of the jury Dušan Záhoranský.
