The Věra Jirousová Award Winners Have Been Announced
The winners of the Věra Jirousová Award were announced on May 24th, 2013 at MeetFactory in Prague. A jury of experts chose the two most significant theoreticians and critics of contemporary art.
In the Established Critic category the jury chose the long-term head of the Umělec (Artist) magazine Ivan Mečl. The jury appreciates mainly Mečl's autonomous and original way that is rather dedicated to writing about the margins of contemporary art and frequent sarcastic evaluations of mainstream contemporary fine art and the social background of art operation.
In the Young Critic category up to 26 years of age, the laureate became Tereza Jindrová, a student of art history at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. The jury appreciated especially her ability to choose a strong topic, as well as the stylistic quality of her texts and clear critical opinion based on excellent argumentation.
