Views of the industrial, north-Bohemian city of Ostrava have recently found their way back to painting. It appears that this landscape or, more precisely, cityscape subject was not only tendentious in the Communist period; it becomes quite clear that it has its natural, authentic reasons. Artists from Ostrava return to it equally as Janošec Benda in his expressively emotional view of the steelworks Mittal. The dramatic atmosphere testifies not only to his gifts as a painter but also to his talent to seduce viewers.
