The “EM Table” was designed by Jean Prouvé for “Maison Tropique” – i.e. a prototype house conceived for French colonies in Africa – in 1950. The construction principles of the house were subsequently transposed by Prouvé onto furniture design, for example the table on display. It rests on legs of black lacquered steel, while the entire construction is connected by intentionally visible screws. The desk is of oak wood with either natural or dark surface. Vitra produces the table in the lengths of 200 and 250 cm. The optimum choice to accompany the table are chairs “Standard” of a very similar construction. The listed price is for the basic version; prices of other versions are available upon request.
