Jan Jaroš was hired as a part-time designer of metal accessories for the jewelry produced by the company Pearl Bohemica as early as after graduating from the secondary school, and was appointed its chief designer in 2004. In his work for Pearl Bohemica, Jaroš employed the best of his technological skills, applying hidden mechanisms and complex constructions in his jewelry designs. He, however, did not only stick to jewelry, and we thus have the chance to admire the elegance and purity of forms of the refracted angles in his cutlery set “Pappone” and the smart combination of a carafe and a glass when the objects were required to look equally nice as a set and separate objects. Yet another interesting detail of the design is the bottom of the glass which can simultaneously serve as a lemon holder. In 2006, Jaroš and Kamila Horychová established the Cohn Studio and became its chief designers. The studio mainly focuses on designing jewelry and glass and metal interior accessories, but it is also involved in the design of furniture and private interiors and exhibition spaces. At the Czech Designblok, the Cohn Studio presented its collection of stainless-steel lamps, a collection of plastic tables and various stainless-steel jewels. An especially smart combination of a great idea and a perfect technical execution is the collaboration with the company Lucis specializing in the production of design lamps, whose result was the lamp series “POP”. Its shades are formed by connected steel strips which can be added with an unlimited number of hangs, the result of which is an endless number of variants. The lamp series can be purchased via our web site.
