Irena Jůzová graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her work moves in a wide field between graphic cycles and drawings, manipulated digital prints and video to technologically demanding interactive installations. Her expression evokes a rather fragile impression which is especially striking in the large-dimensional compositions of translucent paper. She first printed on it and later solely employed its structure. She thus slowly and naturally drew herself closer to creating installations in which she worked which translucent papers and later with light. She used fluorescent tubes, situating them into precisely selected environment, while some objects counted on the reaction and participation of viewers. Jůzová departs from her personal experience and is interested in forces that rule the nature; she turns to the possibilities of technology which were originally employed in totally different fields. In 2007 Jůzová presented the Czech Republic at the Venetian Biennial by her project entitled Collection – Series, i.e. a project in which she approached the space of the Czech pavilion as a luxury shop, offering casts of her own body as “products” in the showcases. The artist also participated at many other exhibitions abroad and received many awards. He works are part of numerous art collections.
