The money box “Elephant” was designed by Maxim Velčovský for studio Qubus in 2005. The object departs from the kitsch sculpture originating from the first half of the 20th century, which the designer somewhat improved by an oblong slot for inserting coins, situated on the head of the figure. Velčovský thus refers to the period of the 18th century when a porcelain figure was of an immense value and was solely affordable for the noble class. Today, when porcelain came to represent a cheap material, the price of the figure can be upped by collecting money in it.
