The sofa “Mozaic” was designed by Maxim Velčovský for Uměleckoprůmyslové závody (Art Industry Enterprises) in 2008. The sofa has stern Cubist forms which ensure comfortable seating while the hand rests provide space for depositing small objects and drinks. Maxim Velčovský conceived the surface of the sofa in a quite original way: he departed from the fact that every family member has one’s firm place on a family sofa, perceiving it as one’s essential territory. The designer thus decided to separate these individual spaces by strikingly different materials.
