The porcelain sculpture represents a young deer lying on its side and with its legs bent under its body. The deer is captured rather realistically which is emphasized by the masterly monochrome paint under glazing, i.e. style so characteristic of Rosenthal. The figure’s model number is 197 and the piece was created by the designer Theodor Kärner (1884–1966) in 1924, who worked for Rosenthal between 1919 and 1934.
