The figure of giraffe, created by academic sculptor Jiří Bradáček, was even exhibited at the very Expo 58 in Brussels. Although the Brussels style can be sensed in it, the work cannot deny some remains of the pre-war style of porcelain production. Contrary to the rather detailed head, the bottom part is solely outlined. The body – especially the arched transition from the back part to the neck – is heavily stylized which does not correspond to the real physiognomy of the animal. The Giraffe was produced in the Duchcov porcelain factory in a very small series and can be thus spotted on the market only rarely. The figure on display can be found at the currently running Prague exhibition “The Brussels Dream”.
