Fox-Cub ranks amongst animal figures created by Jaroslav Ježek in the early 1960s. In this case the artist did not focus on motion but instead on capturing the animal’s personality while forbearing from anything picturesque, i.e. a feature that so often allures artists. In this version, the fox-cub was sprayed in brown color except the details of ears and the tip of the tail; otherwise purely white variant is common and there also exists a less usual version, decorated by salt under glazing. The old sign Royal Dux documents that the sculpture on display was produced in the Duchcov porcelain factory during the 1960s.
