Beast of Prey is part of the group of figures created by Jaroslav Ježek in the late 1950s when the bodies are formed by a set of curves and insignificant details are intentionally subdued. In the case of the sculpture on display, it takes a while to identify the individual parts of the head. The beast of prey, apparently a felid, is not captured in motion but in a seated pose with a curved tail. It, however, still radiates elasticity, elegance and self-confident ease. Besides the black variant, Beast of Prey was also made in black. The sign Royal Dux Czechoslovakia suggests that this is a product originating from the 1960s.
