Herons are probably the most abstract animal sculpture in the oeuvre of Jaroslav Ježek, and the figure received a well-deserved success at the 12th Triennial in Milan in 1960. Even though the birds lack all details, it is rather easy to identify them. The sculpture not only evokes spiral movement but also translates the feelings between the two depicted birds. It is interesting that since the design was made by hand, the birds are in a slightly different position to each other in the individual examples. As is suggested by the old sign Royal Dux, the figure was produced in the Duchcov porcelain factory during the 1960s. Figures of herons are on display at the currently running Prague exhibition “The Brussels Dream”.
