Gabriel often employs mythical subjects in his oeuvre. Gudea was one of the Mesopotamian rules from the 3rd millennium B.C. The artist, however, used red colored plastic in order to create the ruler’s contemporary personification – Gudea is clad in a modern suit, wearing some kind of a historical cap on his head, while his suggestive gaze as if overlooked centuries. The small sculpture ranks to the artist’s most refined expressions from the recent period.
