Zuzana Kynčlová

The glass and jewelry designer, Zuzana Kynčlová, graduated from the Secondary Glass-Making School of Applied Arts in Železný Brod in 2004 (studio of glass jewelry). At present, she studies at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in the studio Design 3. She is involved in designing limited series of glass jewelry and decorative glass objects intended for interiors. The artist focuses on shape, proportion and color scale in all her objects. She is inspired by modern architecture whose internal arrangement reflects elementary human needs which she tries to transform and stylize. Her work also often deals with references echoing the period of childhood – children’s games, memories and dreams. She prefers “purity”, simplicity and intimacy, at the same time trying to imbue her works with the same features. Her glass jewelry and objects evoke calm, silent and harmonious impression. Kynčlová is mainly involved with the technique of melted and cut glass. She is interested in working with the surface of glass objects and in the way how they can be influenced by light – for example when solely the polishing of edges gives the objects “color”, depth and space. Her glass objects and jewelry were exhibited in Munich, Brussels, London, New York, Corning and many other cities.
