Jan Svoboda | When the Sun Came Up | 1984-85 | 43 x 55 cm | Photography | Contemporary art |
The present work is, on the contrary, one of the many Svoboda’s still-lifes to display clear influence of Josef Sudek. Svoboda’s photographs of similar nooks are, however, less legible, and their visual character already aims at abstraction. Later photographs capturing sections of reality are much more reminiscent of a monochrome painting than a photograph in its own right.
