The bulbous, trilobed jardinière with a scalloped edge is decorated with a naturalistic textured relief design. It is made of hot-formed colorless glass, adorned with fused-in honey-silver drops. The surface of the glass is iridized. The body of work created by the Loetz glassworks during the Art Nouveau period, when it sought inspiration largely in Louis Tiffany glass, is considered on a par with the most outstanding modern art glass achievements. The glassworks’ renown is attested to by the Grand Prix awarded to Loetz products at the Paris World’s Fair in 1900.
