Figural Clockholder | around 1850 | Porcelain | 16 x 14 x 12 cm | Biedermeier | Porcelain, Sculpture | Antiques | price: EUR 197Add to My CollectionAsk about this artifact |
The irregular oval base representing a rocky terrain displays a seated figure of a young herdsman clad in blue shorts and stripped knee-length socks. He has a cloak over his shoulders and a hat on his head while his hands rest against a walking stick. A stylized tree trunk with a hole to hang vest-pocket watch is on his left. A goat lies under the tree. The stand, made of porcelain painted on glazing, is not signed. The item on display most probably represents a product of some of Bohemian porcelain manufactures and it originates from the mid-19th century.
