Eduard Ovcacek - “Communication via Writing & Image”


Eduard Ovčáček (born 1933) was a post-war Czech artist who, in that period, most consistently specialized in the relationship between writing and image, but also between writing and sculpture and between object and photography and, last but not least, between traditional and non-traditional poetry.

The carefully conceived concept of the exhibition and the careful selection from Ovčáček’s exceptionally rich oeuvre thus offers, in an attractive and well-comprehensible form, many unusual views of not only the relation between image and writing which accompanies us at our every step without us actually realizing it. The exhibition thus forms an organic part of this year’s dramaturgy line of the gallery, which is devoted to the phenomenon of book and its transformations throughout the 20th century.
