Vilem Novak - “Visiting Mr Gucci” | Prague - Czech Republic | Galerie CIANT | 25/03 - 15/04/09
Mr Gucci is an entirely cybernetic brain inhabiting a corporeal human body. It loves arts, it loves moving around and going to openings, it loves drinking wine. Only few know, however, that it also loves collecting art. Here, the interface of virtual reality allows you to peek into Mr Gucci’s collection which is constantly enriched with the waste of human fantasies and dreams. Gucci’s collection is the akasha – the mystical space – of fine arts or, more aptly, its cutout: the surrealism of the artistic scene lacking its real presence; an analysis which does not need any excessive explanation; a mirror which is now for everybody instead for the artist only. But do not expect anything as grandiose as the above sounds, for you will be disappointed. The installation consists of Mr Gucci – a speaking figure with which you can chat. And the collection has the form of a living rubbish dump that is unflaggingly enlarged with the most recently acquired items.
