Filip Turek in the City of Šternberk Filip Turek’s retrospective in the Tranzitsispay gallery in Prague was followed by his exhibition in the Šternberk Gallery. Although Turek is one of the most interesting personalities that appeared on the Czech artistic scene during the past twenty years, he is almost unknown. His blasphemic works display high dose of irony as well as criticism of the events that occur around us. Turek is characteristic of almost Duchamp-like strategies of artistic mystification and developing personal mythology. Sometimes he exhibits puzzling artifacts without explaining them at all. His objects, installations, photographs and computer images presented at the Šternberk exhibition are a variation of the preceding exhibition in Prague and are rather a record of a chapter in art history instead of a regular retrospective.
