FOTOGRAFIS collection reloaded | Prague - National Gallery in Prague | Qubus | 17/12 - 08/02/09
The National Gallery in Prague Presents Collection of World Photography : The exhibition “FOTOGRAFIS collection reloaded” is based on the collection of the Viennese Bank Austria Kunstforum. The re-run of the exhibition, recently held in the bank’s home city, presents a selection of the most respected achievements from the field of photography. The collection was established in 1976 and it now contains over 400 items spanning the development of photography from its early 19th-century beginnings to the 1980s. The most frequented artists represented in the collection are, for example, William Henry Fox Talbot, David Octavius Hill and Robert Adamson, side by side Edward Steichen, Heinrich Kühn and Edward Weston as well as Albert Renger-Patzsch. The avant-garde is here, too, thanks to the works by Man Ray, Alexander Rodchenko, André Kertész and László Moholy-Nagy. The always-to-remember field snapshots by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Diane Arbus – and you – could not miss the event either.
