Petr Pisarik - 40 | Brno - Wannieck Gallery, Czech Republic | Petr Písařík | 28/11 - 31/01/09
Písarik in Brno The so-called Gallery behind the Wall, a part of the private Wannieck Gallery based in the Moravian city of Brno – which alternates short-term exhibitions with the permanent exhibition of Richard Adam – currently presents the most recent paintings by Petr Písařík. The artist again proves to be one of the most talented Czech artists of the younger part of the middle generation. Písařík graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the early 1990s and was member of the legendary group called Monday which, during the time of its existence, forged the most progressive tendencies and opposed the preceding generation characterized by The Stubborn art group. Písařík appeared to be an unconventional innovator and experimenter in the field of classical painting and sculpture. His creative potential is not only apparent from the endless number of new works but also in their artistic cogency. The exhibition presents paintings combined with sparkling structures as well as remarkable objects composed of found things. It must be said that the mixture of Písařík’s high and low aesthetics is gradually more and more surprising. Petr Písarik, 40 Wannieck Gallery, Brno 28 November 2008 – 31 January 2009
