Glass at Paleis Het Loo At the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Royal Netherlands Association of Antiquaries (Koninklijk Oudheidkundig Genootschap, KOG), the space of the palace whose official title is Paleis Het Loo presents the most outstanding gems from the KOG’s collections. One of the already running exhibitions offers the selection from the collection of rare glass donated to the association by King Willem III shortly after its origination, in 1858. Thus, the rare goblets and glass cups return to the palace of its original owners, Willem III and, before him, Willem II while the latter was known for his passion for collecting Flemish art and glass – including Venetian Renaissance items and the Netherlands 17th- and 18th-century production. The exhibition takes place in the lavishly renovated spaces of the former royal residence whose authenticity underlines the exceptional experience.
