Chinese Painting: Zhang Xiaogang, Fang Lijun, Feng Mengbo | Prague - Rudolfinum Gallery | 25/09 - 28/12/08
China in the Rudolfinum Gallery The Rudolfinum Gallery again reached for the topical art of the Middle Kingdom and presents three painting stars of China, the land of future. All the three artists are represented by a Hong-Kong gallery and they are also well-known on the Euro-American artistic scene. The first one is Zhang Xiaogang (1958), whose painting is inspired by family photographs from the era of the so-called Cultural Revolution; he, however, also focuses on landscape and uninhabited interiors. Fang Lijun (1963) is a representative of the so-called cynical realism via which he expresses the contemporary Chinese reality. Feng Mengbo (1966) works with video in computer-generated visual sequences. The computer manipulations moreover serve him as basis of works finished in the medium of painting.
