Miroslav Urban - A Voyeur outside the Gate of Eternity

Urban, a fascinating autodidact, in Olomouc The Museum of Arts in Olomouc prepared a retrospective of autodidact Miroslav Urban for this summer. His variegated work which includes drawings, paintings, photographs, films, installations and sculptures is fascinating. Olomouc presents a selection of his work made between 1973 and today. Urban’s work has been complicated for art theorists but according to the exhibition’s curator Jakub Potůček, it is of major significance from the point of view of central Europe. Urban’s most frequent theme is death and existence after death. The artifacts on display also include conceptual pieces.
