Jan Maarten Voskuil in České Budějovice This summer, the House of Arts in České Budějovice presents the Netherlandish artist Jan Maarten Voskuil (1964). Voskuil is mainly viewed as painter, but he could be equally classified as sculptor whose enjambment reaches as far as to architecture. In the House of Arts, he created an installation intended directly for this space. Through classical painting, Voskuil arrived at spatial painting and specific installations composed of sculpturally appearing modules. These are simple geometric formations covered with canvas. He first worked with a wide scale of colors but later switched exclusively to white. He discovers new forms and intentionally turns towards Modernism.
