Adéla Matasová in Naarden The interactive exhibition of kinetic objects created by the Czech artist Adéla Matasová is held in the Museum of John Amos Comenius in Naarden. The artist herself commented on the exhibition: “Kinetic objects displayed on this exhibition are of two kinds. The process of motion is either mechanical or computer-controlled. The objects are closely linked with the cycle of manipulated photographs which often form their part. The title of the exhibition – Talk to Me – somewhat introduces the new style of my work. It departs from manipulated, computer-processed photographs which were executed on the basis a performance carried out with a mirror object. Mirrors in the form of puzzles move and reflect the image of the approaching viewer. Light diodes which respond to the voice and sound produced by the person present are incorporated into the individual photographs. The large-dimensional light squares, entitled Hidden Looks, are coated with elastic membrane, while the motion of the points under the membrane results in a certain kind of inner tension – a hidden motion. Contrary to this, the large-dimensional mirror object controlled by the computer on the basis of a program of random numbers reflects the interspaces of the outer world, and viewers are thus faced with their somewhat transformed, fictitious appearances.” Adéla Matasová “Talk to Me” Museum of John Amos Comenius, Naarden 12 April – 29 June 2008
