The exhibition lead by curator Jiří Černický will present for the first time the works of composer, programmer and designer Milan Guštar.
Milan Guštar’s name has been mentioned since the 1980’s mainly in the context of independent film, theater, music and later also in connection with audiovisual art.
The works showed in the DOX gallery existed in the beginning as prepared algorithms and in the form of sketches and notes. The author designed them again for his first independent exhibition.
The works on display are primarily thoughts without strict dependence on physical form. Guštar explores basics of logic, physical and metaphysical principles which are expressed mainly by sound, though sometimes also through an image.
The Milan Guštar exhibition is a multimedia act. It includes musical, photographic as well as graphic components which reflect an ambivalent approach of the artist to his work. His work is a blunt mathematical and logical construction on one hand, however, in the background we sense the author’s interest in the sensual, excentric and magical.
