Lapidarium | Prague | Galerie Jaroslava Fragnera | Jiří David, Jiří Kovanda | 11/07 - 11/08/13
Lapidárium – a place of “the last rest” of sculptural and architectural fragments. A place with these small fragments stored whose cultural value is already historically acknowledged.
However, at the exhibition with the name Lapidárium is not only about recycling of stored or even discarded remains, it’s rather about the current testified value and ability of a dialogue of works of contemporary sculptors of the young, middle and older generations.
The topic of the exhibition is, as obvious from the name, mainly sculpting itself. What happened with Czech sculpting from the times of delimiting of a sculpture and an object, broadened the field of sculpting in the 1970’s and the inconspicuous and hybrid forms of the old and the beginning of the new millennium.
Exhibiting: Jan Boháč, Filip Cenek, Jiří David, Milan Grygar, Dominik Hejtmánek, Anna Hulačová, Stanislava Karbušická, Eva Koťátková, Jiří Kovanda, Matouš Lipus, Marek Meduna, Richard Nikl, Rudolf Samohejl, Pavla Sceranková, František Skála, Vladimír Skrepl, Filip Turek, Jan Turner and others.
