Stanislav Kolíbal - Another World | Prague, Czech republic | Jízdárna Pražského hradu, Správa Pražského Hradu | 14/09 - 06/01/12
Stanislav Kolíbal, born in 1925, has been a key figure on the Czech art scene since the second half of the twentieth century. "This exhibition“, he notes, "has not been conceived as a chronology of my life’s work, but it does offer the visitor a number of pieces that have yet to be considered or have got lost on the foreign market or have never been shown before in the Czech Republic." Conceived by Kolíbal himself, the exhibition offers a synthesis of his world, whose co-ordinates are geometry and abstract art, perceived as part of the broader questions of human existence and the meaning of life. The exhibition, held in the Prague Castle Riding School, is in some ways one of his great Constructions, where his works from the 1960s to the present overlap and confront and complement each other. Kolíbal is concerned with the search for inner links and fundamental connections, the constants of his life and works.
