Josef Čapek | Prague | Jízdárna Pražského hradu, Správa Pražského Hradu | 08/10 - 17/01/10
Josef Čapek (March 23, 1887, Hronov – April, 1945, the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp) was an artist of very versatile talents and rare depth of ideas and responsibility, with a special impact on a number of creative fields. His concept of "the humblest art" continues to appeal to audiences of various ages and social strata: it includes both - playful pictures revealing the magic beauty of everyday life and simple reality as well as meditative probes into the dark depths of human existence.
Exhibition shows about 200 oil paintings as well as selection from Čapek´s drawings, prints, caricatures, illustrations, book covers and stage designs.
